...21-Day Fast, Day 16 insights...

"My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek."
Psalm 27:8

Fasting is a time of seeking, self-reflection, and a time of truly seeking out a deeper relationship with God. If we are not careful, we will seek God for what He can do for us, and not seek Him just to be near Him.
It takes a lot of practice - time in prayer - to cultivate a relationship where we see God as Father and friend. When we can come before Him to just be in His presence, not to just ask for something from Him.  Our challenge is to use the remaining days of fasting, our specific and intentional time dedicated to God, to learn the balance of seeking Him as Father and Friend.
When we learn to seek His face, not just His hand, we grow to enjoy a close relationship.
This, my friends, is more valuable than any favor we can ask. A close relationship with the Father is vital to our growth and maturity as a child of His. Think about it this way - children are healthier and grow to be more productive adults when they have a personal relationship with their fathers. If children only ever communicated with their dads to ask favors of them, how close would they grow to be?
Seek His face, and you can enjoy a close relationship with the Almighty God, and you can call Him your Friend.
